I have had this exact muddler for about 5+ years now and it is the best!!!I am a professional bartender at a 4 diamond resort in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and this is the muddler that I use.It is hard wood.It is NOT stained or sealed. (alcohol will eat through stains and sealants...they end up in the drink -messing up the taste- and then in your guest -messing up their body-... NOT at all acceptable).yes, it MUST be hand washed but it is well worth the little bit of extra work at the end of the shift...I absolutely recommend this muddler!!!

They worked so well. We decided to have a themed drink for our Superbowl party this year. It was in Miami so we went for pink flamingos and palm trees. We served Cubano sandwiches and Mojito cocktails. The mojito's were a hit. We set up a "mojito education station" on our computer playing the Bacardi mojito video, then we had a station set up with mint,sugar, rum,lime wedes, ice and soda water. This muddle was an excellent purchase. It did the job efficiently and well. Even Mojito novices got the hang of it easily.Great buy and good luck
